Named after the famous medieval horse race, Palio has received rave reviews locally and nationally. Gourmet magazine named it “one of the great restaurants of San Francisco” and Financial District folks have made it the place for power lunching.

Close to all major hotels, the award-winning 7,000 square foot restaurant interior permits the viewing of the chefs as they prepare Italian dishes with a seasonally roving regional emphasis. Chef-Owner Daniel Scherotter focuses on Piemonte, Emilia Romagna and Toscana in the Fall and Winter, Rome and Umbria in the Spring, Sicily and Naples in the Summer. The November truffle dinners are renowned (get your reservations early) and anyone who is anyone in the Italian community from vineyard owning dukes and Alitialia executives to Joe Montana and family  might be glimpsed enjoying dishes not seen anywhere else in town.
